Human Synergistics Programs
Most of the leadership and team development programs in this range utilise the Human Synergistics Circumplex as a way to see, measure, and change the thinking and behavioural styles proven to drive the performance of not only individuals, but also groups and organisations.
The Circumplex breaks down the factors underlying performance effectiveness according to 12 behaviours or styles. These behaviours or styles are further grouped according to three general style clusters:
- Constructive styles (blue) encourage the attainment of organisational goals through people development; promote teamwork and synergy; and enhance individual, group and organisational adaptability and effectiveness.
- Aggressive/Defensive styles (green_) lead people to focus on their own needs at the expense of those of their group and organisation, and lead to stress, turnover and inconsistent performance.
- Passive/Defensive styles (red) lead people to subordinate themselves to the organisation, stifle creativity and initiative, and allow the organisation to stagnate.
Success Through People Founder and Principal Consultant Greg Mitchell has worked with Human Synergistics tools for in excess of 25 years, and was one of the first consultants to be awarded Lifetime Accredited Practitioner status. Senior Consultant Margot Gallagher also has significant experience in the use of a range of Human Synergistics tools.

For Individuals:
Life Styles Inventory (LSI) Coaching Program
The Life Styles Inventory® (LSI) is Australia’s most widely used individual development tool for leaders and professionals.
It combines self-assessment and 360° feedback to reveal how your thinking and behaviour impact your effectiveness; both as you see yourself, and as others experience you.
Backed by decades of research and used by thousands of organisations, the LSI is academically rigorous and proven in the real world to help leaders grow, improve performance, and achieve better results.
This is the ideal program for individual leaders, managers and emerging professionals who take their development seriously.
A typical coaching program consists of:
- Commencement session: to ascertain your precise needs/objectives, and discuss program timing, process, survey respondents, report options etc…
- Completion of the LSI1 (self-description) and LSI2 (description by others) surveys.
- Initial coaching session, includes debriefing of results (usually 90mins)
- Minimum 2 further coaching sessions (up to 60mins each), to help you prioritise, plan and work towards your development goals
- The opportunity to discuss progress and emerging issues with your specialist coach between sessions, for the duration of your program
- A final session (up t0 60mins) to consolidate learning and set you up for future success.
Notes:
- All elements of the program can be completed online/remotely
- For individuals managing only a very small team or not yet in a supervisory role, the program can also be conducted utilising only the LSI1 (self-description) survey
- If you’ve previously completed an LSI Coaching Program and/or are keen to accelerate and extend your learning experience even further, our coaching programs can also utilise the Management/ImpactTM feedback tool (M/I, for mid- to lower-level managers and others with management responsibilities), or the Leadership/Impact® tool (L/I, for senior leaders and executives).

For Groups & Teams:
Group Styles Inventory (GSI) and Workshop
This half to full-day workshop is perfect for:
- measuring and monitoring team performance
- creating a team environment that encourages innovation and idea-sharing
- sharpening team members’ analytical skills
- developing consensus-based decision-making
- improving the quality and acceptance of group and organisational decisions.
The workshop utilises the Human Synergistics Group Styles Inventory™ (GSI), which is the only research-based tool of its kind that provides a proven, valid and reliable measure of how people in groups interact with each other and work as a team.
Extensively researched and internationally proven, this survey tool provides group members with a ‘safe’ way to talk about their behaviour and how it affects the group’s performance. Through highlighting factors that are helping or hindering their teamwork, it empowers them to change the way they think and therefore behave – leading to better cooperation, communication and consensus, more innovative thinking and better-quality decisions.
The GSI is designed for both temporary and permanent groups that are responsible for solving problems and making decisions. It can be used as a continual improvement exercise or when a group is embarking on, is partway through or has completed a problem-solving process.
The GSI has two parts, both of which are completed within the workshop:
- Individual group members respond to 72 statements describing aspects of teamwork behaviour, such as team effectiveness, solution acceptance, solution quality and team synergy. This takes about 15 minutes.
- The team members score their own surveys, and profile their individual and combined results. This takes 10-15 minutes.
For the remainder of the session, your Success Through People consultant will guide the team through their results and facilitate the conversation that matters: how are we performing?

Business and Survival Simulations/Workshops
Our team-building simulations provide a unique opportunity to measure quickly and objectively whether your groups are achieving synergy and offer a platform for development.
A variety of business and survival simulations are available depending on your specific needs, and most can be completed within an in-person workshop of 2 to 4 hours.
Regardless of whether you’re keen to learn how your team would work together if lost in the desert or confronting a bushfire, or whether you’re keen to learn how they might respond to a customer complaint or project planning exercise, we’ve got a simulation that can meet your needs, strengthen your team, improve communication and maybe even have a bit of fun along the way.

For Organisations:
The Organisational Culture Inventory®
Looking for something beyond individual and team development, that can potentially transform your organisation?
The Organisational Culture Inventory® (OCI) is the world’s most widely used tool for measuring organisational culture. the result of more than 20 years’ research and now using the latest survey technology, the Organisational Culture Inventory® (OCI) goes to the heart of your organisation’s cultural make-up. It reveals what you’re really asking of your employees and how it affects their performance, motivation and job satisfaction – ultimately providing a foundation stone for achieving successful, sustainable cultural change.
The OCI has two parts:
- OCI-Current measures your organisation’s current culture in terms of the behavioural norms that your employees believe are expected or implicitly required of them to succeed and ‘fit in’.
- OCI-Ideal complements OCI-Current by identifying your ideal culture. It measures the behaviours that your leaders and other employees believe should be expected of them for your organisation to maximise its effectiveness. The result is a picture of your ideal culture based on your leaders’ and team’s shared values and beliefs – a benchmark with which you can compare the ideal versus the current culture to identify gaps and develop targets for change.
The data collected in the surveys is processed electronically, and a report (or reports) generated to meet your organisation’s specific needs.
Your Success Through People consultant then guides you through the findings and the steps required to facilitate positive, sustainable change that has the potential to truly transform your business or organisation.
